Preventative Strategies

STOP!  CALM DOWN!
Put the infant in a safe place and leave the room for a few minutes.
Try running the vacuum cleaner to drown out crying.  This may calm some infants.
  Call the doctor.
Take a deep breath and count to 10.
Take time out from the baby.
  Call someone for support.
Play soft music to calm your infant.
Hold the infant close to your chest and walk around or rock.
Take your baby to a window or outside if it is acceptable weather.
