TBI Survivor

Going back to school following a TBI

What can I expect?

Many times this is the question asked by parents, teachers, child TBI survivors, other educators and professionals.  This site will provide you with information, resources, and links to other related sites that will help to answer the question.

Federal legislation requires that students are "eligible for special education services when they experience brain injury due to an external physical force and the injury results in a functional disability or psychsocial impairment negatively affecting educational performance in cognition, language, sensation, perception, psychosocial behavior, or physical/motor functioning." (Brown, 2003 p. 261)
