TBI Memory Strategies

......Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is damage to the brain, caused by motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, brain tumors, or falls that cause deficits in intellectual functioning, memory, problem solving, and language.

......Difficulty with memory is one of the most common cognitive deficits experienced following an injury to the brain. These difficulties usually affect the person's ability to function independently. Using a number of different compensatory strategies with head injury patients/family members might include: (a) memory books or (b) behavioral prosthetics, such as watch alarms and hand-held microcomputers, just to give a quick example of a few. Memory strategies are useful for individuals who have difficulty keeping memories, remembering facts, and organizing information.
