| Two different studies examined the outcomes of a structured, interactive rehabilitation protocol Goal management Training (GMT) on disorganized behaviors following a traumatic brain injury (TBI). In the first study, 30 individuals with TBI were assigned randomly to short trials of GMT or motor skills training. Individuals who received GMT improved significantly in their performance on paper and pencil tasks than those receiving motor skills training. Each task was developed to represent situations that may be problematic of individuals with a TBI. In the second study, GMT was used in the rehabilitation of meal preparations. The two studies provide clinical and experimental support for the use of GMT in the rehabilitation of executive functioning deficits that follow a TBI. |
