Traumatic Brain Injury and
Executive Function

By: Kim Burgers, Steph Devitt, and Rhonda Searcey

Do you, or someone you know, have difficulties with decision making, prioritizing, initiating, planning, or monitoring? These characteristics describe executive function skills that "normal" people perform successfully on a daily basis. A head injury (mild or severe) often results in an impairment in executive functioning skills.

This web site is a resource for those who have experienced or know someone who has experienced a head injury that resulted in a decrease in executive functioning skills. Professionals are still defining this term and attempting to understand its role in head injury. However, professionals do not deny the importance that it plays in allowing individuals to lead independent and productive lives.
